Run in conjunction with Trinity College London, this course is designed for instrumental, vocal and classroom teachers working with secondary aged students. Delegates will look at innovative approaches to learning which will help students of Rock and Pop instruments and vocals to make progress both in and outside the classroom through using Trinity Rock and Pop exam materials. The course will look at the way Rock and Pop learning outside the classroom links with musical learning in the classroom, including integration with Key Stage Three; GCSE; A-Level and Vocational courses.
Learning Outcomes
Develop an understanding of students’ approach to Rock and Pop learning both individually and in groups Integrate classroom learning and progression with private instrumental tuition. Explore the way Trinity Rock and Pop exam materials can be used in a variety of contexts.

About the Course Leaders
Anna Gower
Anna has twenty years of music education experience as a Head of Music in schools; Advanced Skills Teacher for Hertfordshire County Music Service and as a freelance music education consultant. She was a member of the core team for Musical Futures and has extensive experience of delivering training and presentations on the global conference circuit. She is currently Head of Academic Governance at Trinity College London.
Dan Francis
Dan joined BLT in 2015, following nearly twenty years of experience in schools. He has worked as a music teacher Head of Department, Head of Faculty and Assistant Headteacher, leading an award-winning Music Department and driving an array of curricular and extra-curricular initiatives. As a Senior Leader of Education, he has supported and advised specialist and non-specialist teachers and musicians working in both primary and secondary schools and has led training on a variety of music topics. He is currently Head of Music Service for BLT.
