National Youth Music Camps 2016 – Residential music weeks to inspire, challenge and delight young music-makers!
Now in its 46th year, the National Youth Music Camps at The Stables in Wavendon, Milton Keynes have been providing opportunities for young people to come together, make new friends and experience the excitement and joy of music-making over the course of a residential week.
Led by a team of inspiring tutors, the Music Camps make for an unforgettable summer experience that lives long in the memory of everyone who takes part.
Who is it for ?
Our Camps are for all young people (aged 8-17) with a passion for music, regardless of playing standard – there is no minimum grade of entry. Young people take part because they love music and enjoy trying new things.
Where ?
Campers stay in tents provided on a fully-equipped campsite occupying a tree-fringed meadow next to The Stables Theatre in Wavendon, Milton Keynes. All campers and tutorial staff eat, sleep, practice, and perform on-site. The Theatre’s 400-seat auditorium is used as additional practice space and for end of course concerts.
Who leads it ?
Our tutors are experienced musicians and teachers who are committed to inspiring and coaching the next generation of musicians. Alongside the tutorial staff, there are volunteer caterers, maintenance and pastoral staff. All staff are carefully selected and have DBS clearance to work with young people.
What happens?
Campers will have the opportunity to play their main instruments in small and large groups, try different instruments and styles of music in other sessions and take part in a musical theatre presentation. Events continue into the evening with concerts, campfires and plenty of chances to socialise. Each week finishes with a special performance for family and friends.
